Blonde hair always turns red!?

I have naturally blonde hair and i usually just get some highlights, but awhile ago i finally decided to get it dyed professionally, and it came out red...like strawberry blonde. She put toner in it, but it was still red. I went to a different place to try again, told her about the red last time, and it came out the same. She put blonde highlights in it too. She said my hair pulls red, but i've never noticed any red before..its always been pretty blonde. It looks SO bad against my skin tone-i seriously look like an albino or a cartoon character! It really looks horrible- i look pale and sick. She said i could never dye my hair light blonde...it will always turn red. I was like "but im a natural blonde? how can that be?" I have a wedding coming up, and i dont know what to do. Im gonna go back, but it was so expensive! Should i just get heavy highlights to cover up the red?

Don't worry you will be all right. Looks like your colorsit put a warm blonde in your hair versus a cool blonde. Some people with naturally blonde hair especially if it is golden have a tendency to turn red when they use a golden, honey, or caramel blonde color . These shades are warmer. Someone with your hair type should explore the cool and ultra light shades. I mean by cool shades by utilizing the Neutral, Natural, Ash, Champange, and beige shades of blonde. These shades of blonde drastically minimize any red tones in your hair. The good news is that you can go from strawberry blonde to blonde without bleaching. It is a good thing that you are naturally blonde. If you were naturally red it could have taken up to three applications of blonde hair color to go a brassy free blonde. For optimal results what I recommend is that you explore the Revlon Colorist Ultra Light Blondes. Trust me you will need an ultra light blonde to get all the red out of your hair. Revlon Colorist plus a colorglaze system is a revolutionary breakthrough Color that is salon quality. What I personally recommend is the revlon colorist #101 Extra Light Ash Blonde. It is an ultra light ash blonde that is the most dramatic blonde shade you can get without bleaching and without the unwanted brassiness. It is a beautiful multitonal color with built in highlights. Once you have colored your hair to keep your color vibrant use the John Frieda Sheer Blonde Shampoo Condtioner plus color glaze. You will the sheer Blonde ( Platinum to champange for lighter shades of blonde hair, for natural, colortreated, or highlighted blondes. With these tips you will have beautiful salon quality hair without the salon.

You will find before you can go darker (as a blonde like me) you need to put in a base red. If you put a colour in with out it the colour must have red in it. or else it will go greenie. It sounds like when they have mixed it they have put way to much red base in it. i say get a natugina colour stripper ( i think thats how you spell it) and its one that takes out all the dye you have in your hair then youll have to piut in a rinse to go a nice blonde as the stripper leaves it white. Trust me i had to do it many times after going brown lol. then leave it you ll never get your blonde back to normal if you dye it too many times. Hope this helps. :) have a great time at the wedding!

Hair that has been dyed with permanent colours have chemicals in there permanently. That makes it hard to tell what a colour will do when you apply it. I would listen to what the hairdresser is saying and ask their advice so that you can at least risk any other disasters before your wedding. I would get highlights to cover the red and enhance your colouring, use what you have to the best you can. Somethings can't change.

you just need to use a different mixture of chemicals for the color treatment. and certain toners actually bring out reds, so maybe your stylist didn't use the right toner. You can always try bleach if you want to be blonde.

I have naturaly light brown hair, with natural red highlights. So whenever I go blonde I bleach it out with a powder bleach and developer and then use a cool (blue) blonde but I just tone it, since I don't need to lift any color and it makes it look more neutral rather than yellow or orange...I don't like using anything with an ash (green) base because it looks too green and dead even though thats what most people recommend for brassy hair. Hope that helps you.

Something is wrong here....its so hard sometimes to give hair advice without seeing it...

First off.....what you need to see a hair stylist that specializes in "Color Correction"...which is a speciality of hair color. There are not a lot us but they are out there...and I still am convinced that there is one in every city.

There is just something wrong with what she is telling you....you are right ...............I would not go back to her..she has made a mistake and is trying to cover it..... my suggestion is to find the color correction expert in your town....... you should be able to get a free consultation with her....

I would watch getting heavy highlights.....

if you really need and want my advice you can email me your photo.... and I can tell you better what you need to do.....

this is a tough one without seeing the red you speak of.....
