How do i get my hair bright red?

I currently use a semi-permanent red over my natural light brown hair, its a nice colour but not quite right, i want it shocking red.. like this pic

You'll need to bleach it first, I use Jerome Russell for medium to dark hair. This kills your hair so don't do it too often!

For the red use Stargazer or Directions. Put Vaseline around your hairline, make sure you wear gloves and put the hair dye on like shampoo. I leave it for an hour (the box says 15 minutes but it didn't work for me in that short a time). Then wash it off and there you are! I find that coloured dyes don't damage my hair, in fact they make it softer. It'll last about 4 weeks or so before it starts looking too faded (depends how often you wash your hair!) Reds and pinks last longer than other colours like blue or green.

You've got to go light before you go bright, but unless you know your stuff, I wouldn't bleach it without help of someone who knows their stuff. Why not bleach some strands before putting your normal colour on to boost your colour?

I think i used 'Born Blond' to bleach my hair then i used 'Live' to dye it an Intense red.

If after dying it red, don't change your mind %26amp; try to bleach it out...peach doesn't look good. lol

what u would have to do is bleach ur hair to orange first...prob leave bleach on about half hour...then rinse it and one shampoo...towel dry it and use a semi permanent colour... i find the stargazer colours are the best and most vibrant...leave it on as long as u can...the longer its left on the longer it'll will last... prob better goin to a salon for the first time and then just reapplyin the red urself when it fades.. im a hairdresser and this is what i would advise my clients
