If red heads get teased for having red hair, why is it ok to have dyed red hair?

Alot of girls with red hair are hot, I'm not sure they do get teased...well, no more than blondes do anyway.

Why is it o,k to have a shaved head but not to be bald because nature made you that way?

O,K I shouldn't answer a question with a question but meh..

people with dyed red hair do not have creepy skin

Redheads rock!!!!!

usually people with red hair are really pale..but i think red heads are hot regardless lol

Because they choose it and weren't born with it, and for whatever reason, that makes it acceptable. I love little redheaded kids, but I know the boys especially get so much crap.

i think it's that really ginger freckly red that gets teased, an auburn or red headed person is generally looked on a little more favourable, and it's not really possible to get that true freckled ginger look from a bottle

I think it depends on the person as well. If a redhead has a strong personality, (s)he won't get teased. As to why it is alright to colour your hair: it isn't. Some people will like it, and others will comment. Same with natural redheads.

I have dyed my hair and I have had both reactions. But perhaps a person who dyes his/her hair will have a stronger defense. If people don't like it, well... tough luck! I like it, I coloured it, it's MY hair and if they have a problem, I'll give a sharp reply. Natural redheads might sometimes be too shy, or just not like their natural colour, and so will not defend themselves against nasty comments.

There will always be immature people who tease others. If it's not the red hair, they'll find something else to pick on. It has nothing to do with natural red headed hair versus dyed hair.

There's a difference between red and ginger. Ginger is the light "carrot" red that just looks nasty. A natural red can look good, especially on women.

When people dye their hair red, it either looks unnatural, or like a natural dark red. Who would want to be ginger? Gillian Anderson's hair color was nice, and that was a dye job.

You could never get the true auburn/chestnut colour hair by dyeing it! Dyed red hair can look awful if overdone!

I, too, am a redhead and proud of it! When I was young I was called ginger, carrot, rusty - loads of things but my personality was strong enough to let it go over my red head!

At least most redheads don't go completely grey. My 87 year old mum has almost white hair but you can still see traces of red in it!

Redheads normally run in families - I had red haired relatives on both sides so I didn't stand a chance! It can also sometimes miss a generation. Neither of my son's are redheads but I bet that when they start to produce children one will produce a redhead!!!

I don't know and it's not fair at all. I just like to think that people are paying a fortune to get their hair to look like mine and mine is completely free of charge. Also people with red hair naturally, have pale skin and so stay out of the sun therefore when all you blondes and brunettes who have spent you years baking in the sun look like old leather shoes, me and my fellow gingers with still me basking in a glow of youthfulness with our undamaged skin, and it does seem to be true that redheads take a lot longer to go grey than our counterparts. I think we are the ones that should be doing the teasing!

I was born with red hair which turned strawberry when I was younger. It eventually turned a kinda dirty-blond with reddish undertones then got darker (I was still very young when this happened)...couldn't see any of the red unless I spent a lot of time in the sun, which I don't since I burn so easily. When I got older I tried (in vain) to dye it blond but it was always very brassy no matter how much I bleached it. I finally came to my senses and started dying it red. Now since I was born a redhead I have the coloring to support it so everyone I know thinks the color is natural and are usually really shocked to find out I color it. Every guy I have ever dated or that has ever been attracted to me (with 2 exceptions) has thought redheads were the hottest thing walking the earth, even when my hair was a different color. My husband says the attraction to redheads is about more than just the hair color, tha it is a genetic thing involving skin tone and various other subtle features.
