I want auburn hair but my hair tends to pull red?

I've always wanted auburn hair but with my hair pulling red I'm scared that I'm going to end up with a crayon color red. I was thinking that my hair may not turn out bright red if I choose a color that is a dark auburn where there is both a dark brown and a red but I wasn't sure. I want to color it at home so any tips on what brand/color would be very helpful.

if i were you and my hair was pulling red ..i wud go for a light brown...l'oreal is what i wud recomend ..tht shold balance it out...and you'll get auburn :)

I get my hair colored professionally. My colorist told me that red is a difficult color. She uses a mix for my dark brown hair. (brown and red) It seems to be a little more red than auburn but I really like it. I've gotten so many compliments since I started doing this. I've colored my hair at home and it's such a hassle because it's messy and hard to apply evenly. You might want to consider just having it done professionally and maybe doing touch ups at home?
