to dye it from red to a light brown you would have to bleach it and then dye it the brown but if you want to dye it a deep rich brown then you can just dye it the brown color from what you have it now.

If you're going from red to a darker brown, all you have to do is put the dye on. You don't have to bleach your hair or anything if you're going darker. I hope this is what you were asking about....

I have red hair and I us Loreal Color Spa, Medium brown and it works. It comes out gradually because it isn't a permanent die and does not damage my hair. I put it on every 5-6 weeks and it is great.

No, do NOT dye your hair because people hate you for it. Actually, people probably don't hate you because you have red hair. There may be something below the surface that you aren't letting yourself see. Maybe they don't like you for another reason and you just don't want to see it. Or, maybe they're just jealous of who you are. Some people (myself included; as a brunette I must admit I have a certain dislike for blondes) just pick out something to dislike about somebody else because they're not happy with their self. They just pick out something different and critisize it to make themselves feel better about who they are. If I were you, I wouldn't let it get to me. You shouldn't change yourself to please anyone else. Be proud to be different-and eventually not changing will make you a better and stronger person.

I'm so upset with my hair, it's not what I wanted at all. She kept asking me if I liked warm tones and if I liked red, I told her no I wanted an ashy color but she went ahead and made my hair an ugly dark red brown. With my hair being so dark can I fix it myself at this point? What the hell do I do it seems like they won't listen to what I want so I think I want to fix it myself. Any suggestions?

I think the colour will fade alot each time you wash it. Perhaps if you soaked your hair for a while and then stood out in the sun (sun will lighten your hair a little). Otherwise you could just keep washing it until the colour comes out. This is likely because red fades really quick ( I used to have bright red hair)

If you're not keen on that, I think you every right to go back to the hairdresser and ask her to fix it. Say that you're not happy with the colour because you asked for a lighter colour and that this is not what you wanted. If she doesn't help you out then maybe its time for a new hairdresser.

Well, you should really get an answer to this from a hairdresser..but something similar happened to a friend of mine..She washed her hair w/Tide. It took the color out. Be careful though, its pretty strong. This is why I color my own....I havent had a hairdresser get it right for years. Go to Sallys next time and choose your own color. You can do it for a fraction of the price.

You Could Go Back To The Salon And Ask Them To Fix It. But, If You Think This Will Be A Problem, I Would Try The 'Do-It-Yourself' Approach. Get 'HAIRCOLOR REMOVER' (NOT Bleach) From The Beauty Supply Or Wherever You Buy Hair Dye. Make Sure You Get Developer If Needed And A Good Conditioner. Also A Box Of Whatever Shade You Want To Re-Dye To.

It sounds like your friend has some real issues to address. One-the stressful abusive marriage. Emotional abuse can be just as damaging (if not more) as physical abuse. Unfortunately, you can not force her to leave him. Second- This hair-pulling may be the only stress relief she believes she has at the moment. There is a more extreme version of this that involves cutting of the skin to relieve the emotional pain brought on by psychological trauma.

As for the bald spots- use triple antibiotic ointment. That will help the wounds heal without causing infection. If they are extensive, please have her go to the doctor. Injuries to the head can be very serious. Your local doctor may help, or a dermatologist. Overall, your friend may need to talk to a counselor about what is going on in her marriage.

You need to encourage your friend to seek some help asap. Resources may be at your local YWCA or woman's shelter. They may have some more insight on how to talk to her, as this may be a very sensitive issue for her.
