dye pigments are a lot harder to lift from hair than natural pigments.

if this is the case try getting a colour remover from sallys before bleaching to blonde.

what this will do is shrink the dye pigments and they will rinse away and leave your natural colour, then you can bleach.

if your hair is dark you will have to do something called 'double processing'.

this is where you bleach your hair twice.

you will need bleach powder, a 30-40 vol developer and a toner. clairol born blonde can be found in most shops.

the colour you need to bleach your hair to is the colour of the inside of a banana, a pale yellow.

your hair will probably lighten to an orang on the first bleach. this is ok, use a good conditioner and leave to dry naturally.

the next day you can bleach again to the pale yellow, then use the toner to achieve the blonde you want.

it would also be a good idea to invest in a reconstructer, as your hair wont be in as good condition as whan you started.

redken make a good one, and you will also need a shampoo to keep the brassy colours out, aveda do good ones, or john freida does one. they look blue, but it takes away the brassiness.

You will have to go to a Salon to get it turned back. Red is the hardest color to get out, but yeah a salon should be able to turn it in one shot. Don't listen to the other person either, just regular blonde dye won't do it!!!!!!

It depends on how long u leave the bleach on ...if you only leave it on a short time it may turn it strawberry blond. Longer it will eventually go blond. Just remember to condition condition condition when you are done.

you can buy bleach anywhere, but for stronger stuff get it professinaly, or if you have like a sallys where you live you can buy bleach there, anytime you bleach it turns it blonde, cuz thats what it is takes all the color out and makes it blonde, the longer you leave it in the lighter the blonde is.

Bleach only removes color, natural or "dyed". If you have a color "uh-oh" you really should find a colorist that works with the Redken "Minardi" color correction technique. Red is notoriously the hardest color to get out of hair. I strongly advise seeing a pro hairdresser to do this. Bleaching it will strip some of the color but you'll be left with an ugly orange color. A pro will bleach it, use a color stripper, and tone the hair to get the shade you want.
